Searching Tips

You can choose between forename and surname searches. Both are not required.
Original spellings, which changed along with the Minister, have been retained such as Morris, Morres, Morries and Morrice.
Your search will automatically return results containing the same sequence of letters so 'BRO' would return BROwn, BROwnlow, FairBROther etc.
'E's were frequently omitted or tagged on e.g. Thornley, Thornly, Maudesley, Maudsley.
Some Ministers struggled with the Lancashire dialect: Greenhalgh, Greenhalghe, Grenhelch, Greenhalch.
Searching for partial names will catch some of the more unusual spellings.
Nicknames may be on gravestones e.g. Percy, Harry, Will, Cissie, Molly, Nellie.
Unknown events are where the Minister has put what looks like a burial in the baptism book or vice versa.
Where people have a surname as a middle name such as Thomas Horrocks Eckersley, Thomas Horrocks is filed under forename and Eckersley under surname.
